Abstract

The risk compensation model holds that vaccinated individuals might be less motivated to perform other disease mitigation behaviors because they perceive lowered disease risk. We tested this hypothesis in relation to COVID-19 vaccination. We found that vaccinated individuals instead perform other mitigation behaviors with more consistency and maintain them longer.
