Abstract
Hearing and deaf children benefit from simultaneous instruction with language (English/ASL) and gesture more than language and gesture presented sequentially or language alone. However, in their linguistic solution explanations, hearing students expressed the strategy presented in instructional speech, while deaf children expressed the strategy presented in the instructional gesture.
