Abstract

Modern theoretical models of creativity hypothesize domain-general prerequisites for domain-specific creative outcomes. Our work explored whether ideation and daydreaming frequency are among the foundational domain-general skills/traits. We found only self-reported engagement in ideation to be a moderately strong predictor of self-reported creativity in four domains: Self/Everyday, Scholarly, Performance, and Mechanical/Scientific.
