Abstract
In a sample of 151 bilingual parent-child dyads from diverse ethnic minority backgrounds, we found that access to two languages served as a resource for parents when explaining words to their children. Specifically, parents alternated more between their languages when explaining the meaning of words as opposed to labeling words.
