Measuring the Role of the Importance of Intimacy, Passion, and Commitment in Successful Relationships

Over the past four decades, intimate relationship research has yet to focus on the role of love ideals in relationship well-being. This survey-based study demonstrates that relationship satisfaction is maximized when one perceives one's partner to desire slightly higher levels of intimacy, passion, and commitment than they themselves do.
