Abstract
Noisy households are characterized as chaotic and maladaptive in developmental research. However, most chaos literature fails to consider cultural context. In Latinx Spanish-speaking households with preschool-age children, mothers' perceptions of chaos were unrelated to objective environmental noise. Perceptions of chaos (not noise) related to more parenting stress and less warmth.
