Disrupting the Vicious Cycle of Violence: Pathways of Childhood Violence Exposure Predicting Delinquent and Violent Behaviors in Adolescence

This study elucidated pathways in the relationship between childhood violence exposure and delinquent/violent behaviors in adolescence by exploring alcohol dependency, depression, and posttraumatic stress as potential mediators. Only alcohol dependency was a (marginally) significant mediator, suggesting it may be a possible treatment target to disrupt the cycle of violence.
