Adverse Childhood Experiences and Emotional Intelligence Predict Adult Stress

Abstract
We examined the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and emotional intelligence towards predicting adult stress. Results showed that, for both people of color and White participants, ACEs, emotional intelligence, and physical neglect were predictors of adult stress. ACEs and physical neglect were risk factors while emotional intelligence was protective.
