Abstract

We investigated whether posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and emotion dysregulation predict alcohol abuse. We found that PTSD symptoms and emotion regulation predict alcohol abuse and explain 13% of the variance in alcohol abuse symptoms. Findings suggest that emotion dysregulation and trauma symptoms may significantly increase the risk of alcohol abuse.
