Continuous Vs. Categorical: The Importance of Weight Status Categories When Assessing Relationships with Nicotine Vaping in Young Adulthood

Abstract
Longitudinal relationships between weight status and nicotine vaping in young adults using both continuous body mass index (BMI) and categorical weight status variables were examined. Belonging to either side of the BMI spectrum (underweight or obese) did not predict nicotine vaping; only overweight status predicted nicotine vaping.
