Abstract

We tested the prospective association of purpose in life (PL) with instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) among cardiac arrest survivors. Higher PL at hospital discharge predicted greater IADL 6 months later, independent of age, gender, and negative psychological factors. Future research should test whether increasing PL improves recovery.
