Abstract

Six components of parental attachment were examined as predictors of anxiety and behavioral inhibition in childhood. Maternal supportiveness and paternal affective quality of relationship were the strongest predictors of decreased childhood anxiety and behavioral inhibition. Our findings have strong implications for improving parent-child attachment and mitigating childhood anxiety and inhibition.
