Abstract

Prior studies have related specific kinds of childhood maltreatment to specific personality pathology. Our study examined the differential relationship of childhood maltreatment on personality disorder clusters. Childhood maltreatment best predicted Cluster A (paranoid, schizotypal, schizoid) personalities. Emotional neglect and emotional abuse were the strongest predictors of these personality characteristics.
