Boredom Proneness Is Associated with a Low Sense of Agency

Abstract
A diminished sense of control over events in a person's environment underlies the experience of boredom, precipitating the inability to engage meaningfully. Survey data in two samples establishes a negative relationship between the constructs of boredom and agency, such that the highly boredom prone experience a low sense of agency.
