A Longitudinal Sentiment Analysis of Twitter Data before and after US Supreme Court Decisions on Same-Sex Marriage

Abstract

We investigated the degree to which U.S. Supreme Court rulings on the legality of same-sex marriage is associated with the change in LGBTQ+ twitter users' daily sentiment and hot topic. LGBTQ+ users demonstrated more positive sentiment before and after the rulings and mentioned more health related topics than non-LGBTQ+ individuals.
