Child Abuse and Maladaptive Schemas Predict PTSD in Adulthood

Abstract
Early maladaptive schemas and childhood abuse have been implicated separately as predictors of PTSD, especially in clinical samples. We found the combination of early maladaptive schemas and childhood maltreatment significantly predicted adult symptoms of PTSD in a large community-based sample and explained 52% of the variance in PTSD.
