I Need a Hero: The Impact of Representation in Superhero Print and Film

Abstract
The current study examines the role of representation of women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community in the superhero genre. In mixed-methods study of adults (N=218), quantitative and qualitative results indicated that all three groups were significantly more likely to engage with superhero media when they felt represented.
