Child Marriage Predicts Increased Violent Crimes across the U.S.

Many child marriages occur in the U.S. annually and may be motivated by adults wanting to avoid legal consequences of sex with a child. We examined whether other crimes are associated with child marriage. Results showed a strong connection between child marriage and prevalence of violent crimes across U.S. states.
