Abstract

The Promotion Fitness Exam (PFE) covers knowledge relevant to all enlisted Air Force careers (e.g., heritage, general regulations). We examined PFE criterion-related validity for Airmen seeking promotion (two samples, ns > 18,000) using a concurrent design. Results showed PFEs explained variance in leadership potential beyond career-specific knowledge and cognitive ability.
