Abstract

Sensory attenuation describes the reduced neurophysiological response to self-initiated compared to externally-generated sensations. Abnormal sensory suppression has been linked to corollary discharge dysfunctions in overt speech, associated with auditory-verbal hallucinations in schizophrenia. However, the question remains of whether corollary discharge contains 'auditory' information of inner speech (e.g., gender).
