Abstract

Semantic richness effects, which influence auditory lexical decision and semantic categorization latencies, were investigated in the single-word shadowing task using a megastudy approach. Results showed that only lexical and not semantic variables accounted for shadowing latencies. These findings suggest that semantic richness effects may be task-specific in spoken word recognition.
