Prospection shapes our future thoughts, behaviors, and health outcomes. This symposium integrates animal and human research from multiple psychological perspectives: cognitive neuroscience of imagination (Addis); operant research redefining 'reinforcement' as signals of future rewards (Cowie); goal-directed simulation and mental health (Gamble); and future imagination, delay-discounting, and health (Epstein).
