Examining Implicit and Explicit Biases in Individual Children, Schools, and Communities: Implications for Racial Disparities in School Discipline

There are profound racial disparities in school discipline practices across the U.S. Yet, the mechanisms behind these disparities are understudied. In this symposium, we examine the development and consequences of implicit and explicit biases at the levels of individual children, schools, and communities and the implications for school discipline disparities.
