Statistical Comparison of Performance from Eyewitness Lineup Procedures
Eyewitness lineup procedures that decrease innocent-suspect identifications also tend to decrease culprit identifications. This makes it difficult to determine which of two lineup procedures is superior. We examine different ways of defining utility, introduce an expected-cost model of eyewitness identification, and introduce a method for creating full eyewitness-lineup ROC curves.
