On Metamotivational Beliefs, Their (in)Accuracy, and How They Influence Goal Pursuit

Thursday, May 21, 2020 · Virtual

Oral · Social

Research exploring the impact of metamotivational knowledge (i.e., people’s beliefs about their own motivation) on goal pursuit has recently grown. Using a great variety of methodological approaches, this symposium gathers research investigating how metamotivational knowledge influences self-regulation strategies, guides inferences about others’ motivation, and sometimes turns out to be inaccurate.
