Partisan Conflict: Causes and Cures

Friday, May 22, 2020 · Virtual

Oral · Social

Four talks discuss factors that cause and cure partisan conflict. Both overclaiming political knowledge and holding right-wing social but left-wing economic attitudes lead to supporting extreme, anti-establishment policies. Yet accuracy motives promote avoiding fake political news, and social desirability motives promote seeking opposing political views, thereby improving political relations.
