Intergenerational Continuity in Adverse Caregiving: Magnitude and Mechanisms of Effects
This symposium highlights recent advances in the study of intergenerational continuity of adverse caregiving, including child maltreatment. The first paper presents robust meta-analytic evidence of small-to-moderate associations in maltreatment across generations. The remaining three papers evaluate potential mechanisms for intergenerational continuity, encompassing relational, behavioral, and biological levels of analysis.
