Promoting Equality in an Unequal Society: Psychological and Societal Barriers

In the present symposium, we will examine why social inequalities are difficult to eradicate in society, even when political discourses openly promote inequality reduction. We will focus, in particular, on the processes that preserve and legitimize existing hierarchy among high and low socioeconomic status groups.
