Do Smart Homes Make Smart Children? How Technology in the Home Affects Children's Learning and Family Interactions

Technology-augmented devices increasingly populate homes, despite concerns about children’s screentime. Here, we analyse 3 technology scenarios in the home: mother-toddler shared play with a physical versus electronic game, parent-child shared reading with different book technologies, and whole-family voice-assistant interaction, to assess the role of technology in communication and learning.
