Strong interpersonal bonds are built and maintained through social interactions that serve individuals’ interpersonal needs. This symposium brings together research that sheds light on diverse factors that foster or undermine positive social interactions, and in doing so, illustrates the great variety of mechanisms that contribute to close relationship functioning.
