Far From a Consensus? On the Developmental Continuity of Implicit and Explicit False Belief Understanding

This symposium addresses the relation between implicit and explicit Theory of Mind tasks. We present findings from three labs suggesting that passing explicit Theory of Mind tasks is related to adult-like mental state reasoning involving executive control, whereas implicit Theory of Mind tasks rely on a different, earlier-developing process.
