Although Darwin’s concept of continuity was accepted by biologically-oriented scientists during his lifetime, almost a century passed before his proposal about the logical sequel to anatomical continuity—neurological, behavioral, psychological, mental continuity—was considered equally plausible. This symposium suggests how studies of nonhuman cognition provide bases for examining human abilities.
