Bringing Emotion Research Into the 21st Century: Using Machine Learning and Big Data Text Mining to Measure State and Trait Emotions
Automatic methods of detecting emotion from the words people use are much faster, cost-effective, and often more accurate than relying on self report or traditional annotation methods. In four talks, we illustrate the benefits of such novel methods for psychological research on emotion, empathy and depression.
