Abstract

Both mind-wandering and mindfulness, two opposite states of consciousness, are argued to be beneficial for creativity afterwards (the incubation effect). Our study showed that engaging in a breath-focusing task to reduce mind-wandering was helpful for different kinds of creativity tasks later than performing an undemanding task that increases mind-wandering.
