Abstract

The study examined how internalization of the model minority stereotype (MMS), multicultural competence, and cultural values influenced 163 Korean American students’ levels of distress and psychological well-being. Internalization of the MMS accounted for a significant portion of the variance (e.g., an emotional boost or choking effect) in all groups.
