Not Guilty By Reason of Brain Injury

Abstract
This study investigated whether informing mock jurors about a traumatic brain injury (TBI) influenced their perceptions of guilt and sentencing. The informed jurors perceived the defendant as less guilty and deserving of rehabilitation. The results suggest that the brain injury and its post-injury deficits when determining the verdict.
