Abstract
Ethological models of optimal foraging are successfully applied on 26.796 publications of N = 611 faculty members. We calculate the “optimal intake point” in terms of the journal IF (proxy for competence), the authors’ position in the author list (proxy for autonomy), and the number of coauthors (proxy for relatedness).
