Abstract

Experience-sampling intervention studies tested whether positive emotions build personal resources. Participants received experimental cues via smartphones. Daily positive emotions increased cognitive dialecticism and emotional complexity (Study 1) and resulted in fewer physical health symptoms, greater social connectedness, and greater self-regulation (Study 2, 3). Positive emotion interventions are valuable for self-regulation.
