An Examination of the Cognitive and Personality Predictors of Career Calling

Abstract

Many people report having a meaningful calling to a particular career, but little research has examined the psychological predictors of this feeling. In six studies, this research demonstrates that career calling should be treated as two separate dimensions – presence and search – that have different cognitive and personality predictors.
