Chunks in Long Sequence Learning

Abstract

Chunking processes were studied in a sequence learning task. Human participants had to learn a single and long sequence (composed of 9 positions) that was presented repeatedly 120 times. Response times clearly showed the emergence of chunks during the repeated exposure of the sequence.
