Abstract

Adults incidentally learn auditory categories when acoustically-variable sounds align with behaviors in an ostensibly unrelated task. This study examined whether 10-11 year-old children incidentally learn auditory categories in the course of performing a visual target detection task. Explicit and implicit measures reveal evidence of incidental category learning and generalization.
