Abstract

Across four studies, we find individuals value diversity to a lesser extent and create less diverse teams for themselves than for others, resulting in a self-other asymmetry in diversity beliefs and choices. Findings replicate among students, employees, Dutch and American samples. We explore egocentricism and social dominance orientation as moderators.
