Abstract

In two studies, greater divine spiritual struggles—questions, doubts, and distress about one’s relationship to God or a higher power—were associated with greater psychological adjustment problems among adolescents who had been sexually abused. This result emerged when controlling for other correlates of adolescent psychological adjustment following sexual abuse.
