Abstract

We tested whether structure similarity overcomes surface similarity in driving the retrieval of videotaped situations, that are close to real-life situations in which surface features abound in several perceptual modalities. Results from 120 participants demonstrated that situations sharing structure similarity only were better retrieved than situations sharing surface similarity only.
