Different Genres, Different Emotions? an Analysis of the Influence of Individual Preferences and Genre on Musically Evoked Emotions

Abstract
Different music genres have various impacts on human experiences, such as emotion and cognition. Our study suggests that this is also the case for music-specific emotions. Using the GEMS, we could confirm that different music genres tend to evoke different levels of aesthetical emotions, independent from individual genre preferences.
