Abstract
We assessed children’s self-esteem after a Cyberball-induced experience of ostracism by two peers. The results suggest that negative parenting strategies (i.e. corporal punishment) may exacerbate the deleterious effect of social ostracism which, in turn, may lead to lower self-esteem after being excluded.
