Abstract

Individuals are able to accurately identify a target stimuli’s trait anxiety level based on a 30-second video of the target reading aloud, but they incorrectly generalize their perceptions of trait anxiety to ratings of state anxiety. Results are discussed in the context of the thin slicing and causal attribution literatures.
