Abstract

Our study focused on the individual profiles of people likely to develop smartphone addiction. We measured individual use patterns that predict smartphone over-use (N=54). Two clusters emerged: usage of phone as a tool and out of boredom/socialising. Only the latter predicted participants’ hours of phone use/day (r = 0.35).
