Abstract

Using genetic variation in rs2254298 as a proxy for circulating oxytocin levels, we examined the influence of oxytocin on infant affective responses. Low-risk infants were more distressed whereas high-risk infants were more withdrawn. Infants whose genotype matched that of their mothers had similar levels of distress or withdrawn affect.
