The Influence of Appraisals of Task Importance and Stereotype Threat on Gender Differences Related to Emotional Intelligence

Abstract

Among men, those with high appraisals of task importance performed significantly better on an emotional intelligence test than those with low appraisals. There was a reduced effect of stereotype threat on emotional intelligence performance for men with high appraisals of task performance compared to men with low appraisals.
